You have exerted so much effort into the wedding planning and preparation that the last thing you would want to happen is for your wedding to end up in the America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Because of this, you should always be on the lookout for things to remember and things to avoid so you can avoid embarrassing things that can happen to you at your wedding. If you have no idea what these embarrassing things could be, here are some common ones that have actually happened to couples in real life and some tips that can help you avoid these bloopers.
1. The bride trips while walking down the aisle
There you are looking all beautiful and dazzling, you smile shyly at cameras flashing and to people as you pass by, but just when you are halfway through the aisle, something caught your feet and you trip. You land flat on your face, good enough for everyone to see. It takes you five minutes or so before you can finally get to stand up because of your huge dress and trail.
This is probably one of the most embarrassing things that could ever happen to a bride. Make sure this does not happen to you by buying the right pair of bridal shoes. Read articles on bridal shoe shopping guide. Also, break in the shoes several weeks before the wedding. Practice walking on them. Lastly, make sure the aisle is not slippery and that there are no obstacles along the way when you walk.
2. The bride or groom consumes too much alcohol during the reception
It may happen that the bride or the groom gets intoxicated during the event and he or she may do things that are not exactly acceptable during wedding events (or any day). The bride may mention ex-boyfriends during the speech or the groom ends up dancing goofily during the couple’s dance. Keep alcohol intake to a minimum or skip it altogether to be safe. Consider the fact that you can more easily get intoxicated because you are stressed during the wedding affair.
3. The bride or groom smiles in front of the camera with food stuck in between teeth
Just when the bride or groom is about to say cheese, the people around snicker because there is a huge food particle stuck in between his or her teeth. To avoid this scenario, avoid eating foods or drinking beverages that can stain teeth or get stuck between the teeth. Chocolate desserts for example are a no-no.
4. The bride or groom makes a mistake in saying names of the guests
It may be impossible to memorize all the names of the guests especially if you are going to have 500 guests or more in your wedding. But be sure to get to know that people closest to your partner’s family and never make a mistake in their names. If you are not sure, it would be less embarrassing to politely ask a person what her name is than to call her by a name that is not hers.
5. Showing the wrong video during the video presentation.
It is time to view the wedding video presentation and you cannot help but get excited. But oops, someone mistakenly played the wrong video! (It could be your debut, a home video of you and your friends, or worse, steamy video of you and your beau!) Moral of the story: label all videos and make sure that you get the right one to play. Check the video several times before the reception.
No wedding is 100% perfect as there would surely be bloopers along the way. However, it would be very nice if the blunders are just tiny ones that nobody will ever notice. Learn from other couples’ mistakes and do not do the same embarrassing things they have done.
